Sunny Queensland

Rain fell for most of our 2 day stay in Milaa Milaa and when it wasn't raining, the mist or fog settled over everything. Friday 2nd July was John's 62nd birthday so we thought we'd treat ourselves to a pub meal - travelling the short distance from the caravan park to the pub was interesting. The fog was so thick that it was very difficult to see where were going and being in an unfamiliar place didn't make it any easier. John did a great job there and back.

MM caravan park was a large grassed area with sites divided by tropical plants. By the second day of our stay, the sites were sodden and muddy because of the continuous rain. Robert drove me to the amenities block to have a shower because it was quite a walk and I was worried I might slip and do more damage to my knee. (I've worn out one rubber stopper on the walking stick already).

Strategically placed permanent signs warning about fog give drivers an indication of the hazards and to drive carefully. Misty Mountain is a tourist drive so there's a clue here about what this area is like. Whilst the fog and rain can be dismal, the temperature in the daytime is comfortable (18C). Outside at night is a tad different and it's cosy in the caravan compared to the camper trailer.

It's just so convenient being able to pull up at a site and within a reasonably short time, everything is set up.

Atherton CP is lovely - large drive through sites have a slab for annexe with grassed areas for vans and campers.
