Barron Gorge (not far from Cairns)

Barron Gorge is not far from Lake Placid Caravan Park. Huge rocks pepper the Barron River as it snakes along the bottom of the gorge. White water rafting is for thrill-seekers and a bus delivers these adventurers to awaiting rafts that have been set up prior to their arrival - we watched the rafts being unloaded, dragged across rocks and floated in the water ready for another journey down the river.

A hydro-electric station supplies clean energy to the surrounding area and visitors can check it out (except those with pacemakers).

Water cascades from a great height and travels a path worn away over thousands of years. We're seeing it in the dry season - to see it in the wet would be amazing!
